Centennial Parklands has a collection of more than 15,000 trees - including the world's largest collection of Port Jackson Figs. While these magnificent trees have been enjoyed by park visitors for generations, they may not be here for the next generation without our help!
Age, drought, shallow sandy soil, low rainfall, pollution and urban strains have combined to create enormous pressures on our tree collection. Many of these trees are already coming to the end of their useful life, and are in need of replacement.
The Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust has put together an industry-leading Tree Master Plan for the Parklands, which includes a phased replacement program. The Plan balances the visual and heritage aspects of the tree collection, with the public safety risk involved with dying trees.
The Plan, while comprehensive, cannot be implemented without community support. Tree replacement on the scale required simply cannot be funded by the Trust alone.
Create your own legacy, celebrate a birth, say ‘I love you’, or commemorate someone special by Dedicating a Tree today. This tree can become a focal point for family gatherings, a landmark in a child’s life, or a personal place for contemplation and your quiet enjoyment.
By dedicating a tree you will be entitled to:
Tree Dedications are only available in limited numbers.
Total value of your contribution to the Parklands future: $5,000 (tax deductible).
