The Centennial Parklands Foundation is delighted to be involved in the inaugural "The Night Garden" exhibition, to be held in the Superintendent's Residence, Paddington Gates, Centennial Park, from Friday 30 April to Sunday 6 June 2010.
The exhibition is part of a new photography festival, Head On, which is being held at various venues around Sydney, including Centennial Parklands.
The Night Garden showcases the work of photographer, Peter Solness, who is renowned for his landscape photography which is taken after dark, using a blend of moonlight and torchlight to create his unique images.
This exhibition will feature some splendid new images taken very recently in Centennial Park, including one standout-image, which Peter has decided to announce as ‘The World’s Greatest Tree Photograph’. This may sound a little self-congratulatory, but as a long-time tree photographer and author of the acclaimed Tree Stories book, (Chapter and Verse, 1999) he can claim some authority.
Mr Solness says: "The image in question is so utterly sublime that I’m dedicating an entire room within the cottage to this one photograph. I have also decided not to compromise this image in any way, by either publishing it on the web or in any other media - and it is not the tree featured on this page - or to even discuss its character or content in the course of conversation. People will have to make a pilgrimage of sorts to this special room and stand before this image themselves, if they want to experience a truly wonderful photograph of a truly wonderful tree. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed.”
Mr Solness has generously offered to donate 20% of proceeds from sales of his photos in the exhibition to support the work of the Foundation. So come along and see this wonderful new exhibition, including the Worlds Greatest Tree Photograph! You won't be disappointed.
Exhibition opens Friday April 30th 2010 and runs until Sunday June 6th.
