Use Car Free Day to show your support

6 August 2009

Australian CoinsDo you love Centennial Parklands? Ever wondered how you can help to ensure Centennial Parklands is here for this and future generations to enjoy?

Well your loose change can make a real difference.

The next Car Free Day in Centennial Park is Sunday 30 August 2009. We will have volunteers posted around Centennial Park offering you the chance to help sustain these Parklands through just the loose coins in your pocket.

Where will my loose change help?

Your loose change will contribute in so many ways.

For example, just a gold coin will help towards the purchase and release of Australian Bass fingerlings that help to keep our ponds clean, while a note will contribute to growing locally endangered plant species - Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub and its restoration - or habitat restoration to ensure our native animal and bird continue to have a home to return to each day.

Your loose change will also help improve the Parklands' pond system.

How else can I help the Parklands?

There are numerous ways in which you can express your appreciation of the wonderful open spaces.

Help doesn't necessarily mean dollars. Help may mean some volunteer hours in our new plant nursery, restoring our plants and trees, or even assisting with our visitor information services at the Parklands' Visitor Information Counter (great for people who can spare an hour or two)!

Visit our Seven Leaves page for all the details.

And...

How could we forget! You can also be part of our major fundraiser for the year - Evergreen Dinner. Tickets will go on sale shortly. Find out more.
