The last time you visited Centennial Parklands you probably noticed how good it is looking. We're proud of that, however it does not reveal the problems and challenges we face.
Here are just a few:
Centennial Parklands is 4% government funded, 96% reliant on your support.
Our trees are ageing and dying. Experts estimate that around 10,000 of our trees will need replacing over the next 40 years.
We are being loved to death. Currently around 11-15 million visits are made to the Parklands every year, with big increases expected over coming years. Our facilities and infrastructure is in need of upgrade and our environment in need of conservation and care.
We have over 300 buildings and structures across the Parklands. Many are heritage, many in need of investment and upgrade.
As more and more green space around us is consumed or substantially altered by urbanisation, we are becoming a great refuge for an amazing array of birdlife and urban wildlife. We need to protect and conserve their habitats.
We, the Foundation, are here to provide support to ensure the environmental, heritage and social aspects of the Parklands are maintained.
