Centennial Parklands
The Foundation is grateful for the support of each and every benefactor.

On Sunday 2 August 2009, the Centennial Parklands Foundation hosted a community tree planting in Centennial Park as part of Planet Ark’s National Tree Day. 40 native trees including the Sydney Red Gum, Swamp Mahogany, Forest Red Gum, Coastal Banksia, Plum Pine, Christmas Bush, Blueberry Ash, and Heath Banksia on the rocky outcrops below Carrington Drive. These species are all local endemics (indigenous to the region) which will attract a range of fauna, birds and insects, increasing biodiversity.
Thank you to all our generous donors who contributed to our fundraising efforts. Funds raised from these plantings go towards the vital Tree Replacement Program which aims to replace 60% of the Parklands’ 15,000 trees over the next 40 years.
Grandchildren, of the late Pamela Carroll (pictured right), planted a Plum Pine tree in her memory on the day. Pamela lived in the suburb of Centennial Park for 30 years, where she led a busy life with her husband Vincent and their family of five. She was actively involved in the Centennial Park Residents Association as well as one of the representatives for the 'Save the Parks' campaign in the 1970s. Her focus and dedication assisted in the conservation of the local area and Parklands for future generations.
The Foundation also funded a National Tree Day for Schools on Friday 31 July. 200 students from Reddam House, Acham Junior, Bondi Montessori and Sydney Girls High School joined us for to continue the plantings along the banks of Kensington Pond which have greatly improved the site.
If you are interested in learning more about our trees and how you can help ensure they continue to grow with future generations, please join our Senior Arborist, Ted Hoare, for his highly regarded Tree Tour.
The next Tree Tour will be held in spring on Wednesday 21 October. Best of all, it's free!
