Support the Centennial Parklands Foundation's Evergreen Dinner

22 May 2009

The Centennial Parklands Foundation is hosting its second annual Evergreen Dinner. The dinner will be held at 7.00 pm, Thursday 29 October 2009 at Centennial Parklands Dining. Tickets cost $200.

Funds raised from the dinner will be used to plant a completely new circle of 102 semi-mature trees inside Centennial Park’s 3.6 km Grand Drive, providing new growth and helping to reduce the effect of the inevitable loss of the ageing trees within these iconic Parklands.

Many of Centennial Parklands’ trees are in decline through age, drought, poor soils, root compaction and the pressures of the urban environment, which have severely stressed many of the Parklands trees. Our current assessment is that up to 60% of the Parklands’ 15,000 trees will need to be replaced over the next forty years.

A look back to Evergreen Dinner 2008

Evergreen DinnerLast year's inaugural Evergreen Dinner combined the best of locally sourced organic and biodynamic produce with Marque’s Mark Best showcasing his talents in the beautifully styled surroundings of Centennial Parklands Dining.

The dinner raised funds towards an Education Centre which will, for the first time, provide a base and much needed undercover venue for the Parklands’ education programs and a resource for community and recreational clubs for meetings and informal gatherings.

The Centre is to be located at Centennial Square in Centennial Park. Work is underway and is due for completion in July 2009.

Further details of this year’s event will be available shortly.
