On 10 September 2011, the Centennial Parklands and Birding NSW partnership reached a two year partnership milestone.
In excess of 800 entries have been made on the database which is recognised in the National Register.
There are now 13 sites from which bird surveys are delivered. The sites boast a variety of Centennial Park environments and include Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub, Sandstone Ridge, pond edges and Melaleuca and Pine forest environments.
Data collected will provide the Trust with valuable information on CP birds and their numbers. Over time this information will assist in managing issues involving the Parklands’ many bird species.
Birding NSW is also in the process of identifying the best management options for restoring the Ern Hoskins Interpretive artwork which was previously mounted at Willow Pond. The sign was removed after it was found to be deteriorating from the combination of hot and wet weather.
In combination with the opening of the Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub sites for monthly Bush Regeneration, Graeme Robinson, Allan Richards and Barry Ayres from the Birding NSW Amateur Ornithologists Club conduct Tours/Surveys in these restricted areas.
