Bush Regeneration

ESBS VolunteersVolunteers are helping to restore endangered flora in Centennial Parklands.

Their efforts are helping to regenerate the Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub and maintain our recognised best practice demonstration site for the management of this remnant scrub.

Meet the team

This volunteer project began in February 2004 and has involved the bush regeneration of two remnants of endangered Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub located on York Road, and the Bird Sanctuary, Centennial Park.

A team of 20 volunteers have been assisting professional bush regenerators with a range of tasks including manual weed removal, dumped rubbish removal and controlled burns.

The Volunteer Bush Regeneration activity has also provided the opportunity for volunteers to learn correct regeneration theory and practice procedures, the ecology of Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub and how to identify invasive weed species.
