ENVIRONMENT OFFICER
Amara Glynn was our Environment Officer and is now Acting Senior
Manager Environment at Centennial Parklands.
Centennial Parklands Foundation provided funding for her role as
Environment Officer from 2012 to 2017.
Amara’s role was incredibly important in managing the environmental
strategies, plans and procedures at Centennial Parklands - and helping to
protect wildlife habitats and the restoration of plant species
across the Parklands.
Amara was, and continues to be, passionate about the beautiful natural areas and diversity of wildlife that can be found in the
Park.
She graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Ecology and Environmental Science, and as Education Officer, was responsible for:
- Supervising and coordinating environmental initiatives,
including vertebrate pest, noxious weed and aquatic vegetation management
- Water management, including water quality testing and waste
management
- Coordinating research applications
- Monitoring environmental issues overall
Centennial Parklands Foundation also funded a number of key projects managed by
Amara, which include:
- Pest and weed
control
- Bat and tree
monitoring
Water quality
monitoring
- Environmental
Management Systems (EMS)
